This event was arranged by DASSAN (Darwin Asylum Seekers Support and Advocacy Network) and Melaleuca Refugee Centre as a moderated conversation to hear Julian’s response to a range of questions from the floor about the future of asylum and refugee policy in Australia.

Julian Burnside AO QC is an Australian barrister, human rights and refugee advocate and author. He is known for his staunch opposition to the mandatory detention of asylum seekers, and has provided legal counsel in a wide variety of high profile cases.
