Open Information Night

26/11/2008 - 5:30pm
26/11/2008 - 7:00pm
Australia/North

Open Information Nights are held at Melaleuca from 5:30pm on the last Wednesday of each month and are a new initiative of the community development team. The aim is to raise community awareness about refugee-related issues and provide an opportunity where information and experiences in relation to such issues can be shared and discussed.

November's theme is "Environmental Disasters" where people will be sharing their stories with a lead to a discussion about how community supports one another and how people of refugee background can be supported in such situations.  A topical theme which may arise from the discussions is that of "climate refugees" and how environmental disasters in some countries leads to the internal displacement of people.  Please bring your thoughts and stories along to share if you wish to.

Entry is free and everyone is warmly welcome.  See attached flyer for details.
